Are Niggling Aches Hindering Your Running Training?

Mar 1, 2023

Your running form could be having an impact on your injury risk and performance.

Looking to improve your running training? As a single-leg sport, running requires proper muscle stability to avoid injury. That may sound a little confusing as you need both legs to run. However, only one foot is in contact with the ground at one time.Unfortunately, a hip drop can go unnoticed by runners, leading to an increased risk of injury.

If you notice that your hip is dropping from side to side with each step you take while running, it could be an indication of inadequate muscle stability in this area. This, in turn, can cause tension in other parts of your body, such as your ITB band, knees, and lower back, leading to pain during your runs. If you are experiencing pain in these areas as you run, you may have the hip drop to blame.

Resolving this problem will not only reduce your injury risk, the other benefit will be improved running performance.
